Cottage Pie

Inspired by Adam Ragusea’s latest video on Shepard’s Pie, I decided to make my own with some ingredients I had on hand and order the rest. I also used it as an opportunity to stock up on herbs and spices for my pantry at my new place!
Differences:
- Mashed potatoes
- I used cheese curds in my potato top instead of sharp cheddar
- I kept the potato skins in the mash,
- I used less butter in the mash
- I didn’t put egg yolks in my mash
- I used beef (hence the cottage pie name)
- I used a chicken stock cube instead of the recommended demi-glace
- I bungled the method a little by not using tomato paste as I didn’t have any
- I topped it while it was still hot
My notes:
- Grating onions sucks. Just chop them instead, IMO
- Grating the carrots I can get behind
- Still tastes pretty good!
