Eagle Rare Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Ever since I first tried it at Deacon Brodies (which, to my knowledge no longer has any left at this point in time), I knew I had to get me a whole bottle of it. And getting this one bottle took a while and was almost entirely decided by chance. I had already given up on it, even. Nowhere to be found in Ottawa, let alone most of the rest of Ontario, the only way I managed to get it was due to someone having returned it to a store in Ottawa, and my dad knew someone who worked at the LCBO who held it for him. But you’re not here to read the story about how I got the whiskey, you want to know how it tastes.
It’s very smooth, strongly oak and vanilla flavoured, pleasantly sweet up front, and ends with a waxy textured nutty aftertaste.
A great 10 year old bourbon! Probably my current favourite bourbon and possibly even favourite whiskey right now.
The Buffalo Trace distillery is shaping up to be one of my favourite distilleries. Their Buffalo Trace Straight Bourbon Whiskey (which I am told is the same recipe as Eagle Rare, just younger age-wise) is also worth trying, if you can’t get your hands on Eagle Rare.
Here’s a picture of the back of the bottle:
