Egg in the Hole Grilled Cheese
I hope everyone is having a good morning! I decided to make myself an overcomplicated (but very much worth it) sandwich: the egg in the hole grilled cheese. Note: works best with large pieces of toast.
In order to make it, what you need is:
- Toast (whatever kind you like!)
- 1 or 2 eggs (if you want both pieces of toast egged)
- Your cheese of choice (melty cheeses work best), I went with a melty orange cheddar
- Butter (or your favourite oil or butter alternative or any combination you like)
- Optional: condiments or sauces are unnecessary, hot sauce is nice if you like your sandwich spicy, or if you just like ketchup feel free to add some on it, or for dipping on the side
Steps:
- Cut a hole in the center of you slice(s) of toast
- A cup or cookie cutter can help
- Lube up your pan
- Place your toast with the hole in it, in the pan
- Crack your egg(s) into the hole in the toast
- Once the egg is cooked enough, flip the toast and cook the other side
- Place your cheese on your toast
- Once your toast’s other side is cooked, assemble your sandwich, plate and enjoy!
