Go Gi Ya Korean

Go Gi Ya Korean

Today I went for lunch and tried a new place called Go Gi Ya on 155 Bank St. I decided to try the K-Bowl with beef. It was pretty great! The service was fast (like, 5 minutes max in and out), and the food was tasty. I saw some Soju in the fridge. I should try it when it’s not on a work day lunch.

The plastic bowl it came in was pretty premium looking and feeling, not flimsy in the slightest. It also came with a vegetarian dumpling nestled in the bowl on the side, which brought some welcome extra textures and flavours, even though it was just the one dumpling. I accidentally put more chili paste/sauce than I intended on the rest of the bowl, but it didn’t take away from the flavours of the beef, or the funkiness of the kimchi (I think it was kimchi?) that was included. I also added some teriyaki sauce and some sesame seeds, as is custom. I liked the noodles they included with it, they were unlike any other noodles I’m used to. They were translucent and a bit slippery, and a nice texture difference from the rice.

It looks like they also have fried chicken, and other items that I’d like to try. Maybe their bi-bim-bap is better than 밥[bap] by Raon Kitchen on Laurier?

Overall, I’d go again. It was hot, fast, and tasty.
