Moonshine BBQ

Moonshine BBQ

Hey, it’s been a while hasn’t it? Sometimes life gets busy and some stuff goes on the backburner. This was one of those things. I have some more time now, so I’m getting back into the swing of it.

I went to Moonshine BBQ with some friends, and I quite enjoyed it!

They had a $4 beer Fridays going on, and the house beer is solid. Slightly hoppy, relatively light, a couple of floral notes. An easy drinker, complimentary to the menu for sure.

The brisket is great, nicely smoked. Just falling apart to the fork or in your mouth. The slightest bit dry, but not a problem at all with the sweet and tangy BBQ sauce it’s served with (on the side).

It’s served with a small piece of cornbread, which was in fact cornbread. A nice morsel, not dry, not mushy, mild flavour.

The fries are great, thick cut, crispy, partly skin on. Served with ketchup and mayo. Good quality fries, no notes.

The coleslaw has red cabbage and is more on the creamy sweeter side, personally I prefer a vinegar style one but this one is good too!

Even though I was completely and utterly stuffed, the pouding chomeur was calling my name. And boy was I not disappointed, absolutely delicious. Sweet, with a scoop of ice cream drizzled with a butterscotch/caramel sauce. The texture was on point, not too firm, not too spongy, easily parted with the spoon. The cast iron pan as the serving vessel seems a but unnecessary, but it fits the theme for sure.
